Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Plamaco ('Plamaco', 'we', 'us') collects and uses your information across the Plamaco app and website. By using Plamaco, you agree to this policy. We honor the rights described below for users in India, the EU, UK, and California.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the information needed to run Plamaco for you.
1.1 Account Information
Your email address and name, and the basic profile information shared when you sign in with Google or Apple.
1.2 Food and Pantry Data
The food, pantry, recipe, and nutrition information you enter, including any dietary preferences you choose to record.
1.3 Photos You Submit
When you scan a receipt or food item, the photo is sent to our AI providers to read its contents. See 'How AI Processing Works' below.
1.4 Health Data (only if you enable it)
If you turn on the health connection, Plamaco reads your step count, workouts, and active energy burned from Apple Health on iOS or Health Connect on Android, to estimate the calories you burned so your daily calorie target can adapt to your activity. This is read-only: Plamaco never writes to Apple Health or Health Connect. This data stays on your device and is never sent to our AI providers. It is used only for this calorie estimate, and it is never sold and never used for advertising.
1.5 Usage and Device Information
To run and improve the app, we collect how you use it along with device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and crash reports, through our analytics and error-monitoring providers.
1.6 Subscription Information
When you subscribe, we receive your subscription and entitlement status from the app stores and our subscription-management provider. We do not receive or store your card or payment details; Apple and Google handle the payment.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: provide and personalize Plamaco's features; generate AI recipes, meals, and suggestions; maintain your account and send service messages such as verification and security notices; keep the Service secure and prevent abuse; and meet our legal obligations. We send marketing messages only if you opt in. We do not use your health data for anything other than the calorie estimate described above.
3. How AI Processing Works
Some features send your data to third-party AI providers (such as Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google) to generate a result. Your food text and the photos you scan are sent to these providers to produce recipes, meals, and suggestions, to read scanned receipts, and to transcribe voice dictation. We send only the information needed to produce a result. We do not sell your content or use it to train AI models, and our providers process it only to return a result to you. AI output can be inaccurate, so please review it before relying on it.
4. Who We Share Data With
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run Plamaco, and only as needed to operate it: - Hosting, database, authentication, and file storage. - AI processing, including reading the photos you scan. - Subscription and payment processing, through the app stores. - Analytics and crash reporting. - Sign-in, when you choose Google or Apple. We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect safety or our rights, or as part of a business transfer, for example if Plamaco is acquired.
5. Where Your Data Is Processed
Our providers process data in India, the United States, and other countries. By using the Service, you understand that your data may be processed outside your country. We choose established providers and rely on their data-protection commitments to safeguard your information.
6. How Long We Keep Your Data
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete individual items, export your data, or delete your entire account from the app at any time. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data without undue delay, except where we must keep certain records to meet legal obligations. Backups are cleared on a rolling basis. Data sent to AI providers is held only briefly under their own retention policies.
7. Your Rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and withdraw any consent you gave, directly in the app under Settings or by emailing support@plamaco.com. We respond to requests within the time required by law.
7.1 India (DPDP Act, 2023)
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to access, correct, and erase your data, to nominate someone to exercise your rights, and to grievance redressal. You can reach our grievance officer at support@plamaco.com, and you may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
7.2 EU and UK (GDPR)
We process your data to provide the Service (contract), to keep it secure and improve it (legitimate interests), with your consent (optional features), and to meet legal duties. You may access, correct, erase, restrict, or port your data, object to processing, and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
7.3 California (CCPA/CPRA)
You may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold, ask us to delete or correct it, and you have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
8. Children
Plamaco is intended for adults. If you are under 18, please use Plamaco only with the consent and involvement of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us at support@plamaco.com and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls through our providers. No service can be completely secure, but if a data breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
10. Cookies (Website)
The Plamaco website uses essential cookies to function and analytics cookies to understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings. The mobile app does not use cookies; it uses the analytics and error-monitoring providers described above.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. If we make a material change, we will notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use Plamaco after the change means you accept the updated policy.
